My first time joining a beach cleanup was in Costa Rica.
我第一次參加的淨灘活動是在哥斯大黎加舉辦。

Our group walked 30 minutes along trail蹤跡 to a small beach called "Playa Basura."
我們這組沿著一條步道走了三十分鐘,來到一個叫做Playa Basura的小海灘。
 ● trail(n) 小道 There is a waterfall at the end of this trail.

It means "trash beach" in Spanish.
西班牙語 Playa 意思是垃圾海灘。

A lot of trash washes up沖上岸 on the beach there.
很多垃圾都被沖上那處海灘。
 ●wash up 把⋯沖上 / ●wash down把⋯沖下 

Playa Basura is right next to a nature reserve自然保護區.
Playa Basura就緊鄰著一個自然保護區。
 ●reserve(n) 自然保護區 This entire island is a turtle reserve.

The beach often looks like it is covered with colorful rocks.
該處海灘經常看起來像是覆蓋著五彩繽紛的石頭。

But the rocks are just small pieces of plastic.
但那些石頭其實只是一些小塑膠碎片。

Most of the trash comes from other areas.
大部分的垃圾都是來自其他地區。

It washes down沖下 rivers and into the ocean.
垃圾被沖下河流再進入海洋。
 ●wash up 把⋯沖上 / ●wash down把⋯沖下 

Then the currents潮流 carry the trash to Playa Basura.
然後洋流將垃圾帶到Playa Basura。
 ●current (n)  水流潮流 This area isn't safe for swimming because of the strong currents. 

Our group worked hard for about two hours and filled over 100 trash bags.
我們小組努力工作了大約兩個小時,裝滿了 100 多個垃圾袋。

The difference was amazing.
淨灘前後的差別真的非常驚人。

But every year the rainy season brings more trash to Playa Basura.
不過每年雨季都會給 Playa Basura 帶來更多垃圾。

So, it is fortunate that there is a cleanup at Playa Basura every year.
因此,幸好Playa Basura 每年有淨灘活動。

Trash on beaches like Playa Basura won't end until people stop trash from getting into the oceans.
雖然要直到人們成功阻絕垃圾進入海洋,Playa Basura 等海灘上的垃圾才會消失。

But every beach cleanup helps.
不過,每一次的淨灘活動都仍是有幫助的。
