Barbados Exits the British Commonwealth to Become a Republic

巴貝多脫離大英國協後成為獨立共和國

 

   On November 30, 2021, the Caribbean nation of Barbados became a full constitutionals republic. Although Barbados has had political independence since 1966, it has remained a member of the British Commonwealth of Nations with the Queen of England as its symbolic* head of states. At the turn of midnight, the country formally left the commonwealth.

   At the late-night ceremony' that began on the evening of November 29, Prime Minister' Mia Mottley swore ins Sandra Mason, the previous governor-general, as the first President of Barbados. Prince Charles also attended the ceremony as a representative1 of the United Kingdom. He emphasized that the UK and Barbados share a rich history and will maintain close relations. The musical artist Rihanna, a national hero in Barbados, was also there to celebrate the occasion and honor her home country.

   2021年十一月三十日,加勒比海地區的巴貝多成為了一個完整的憲政共和國。管巴貝多自1966年起就已政治獨立,但它仍是大英國協的成員之一,英國女王為其象徵性的元首。過了午夜之際,該國正式脱離國協。
