Although dairy products and cured meat have been "delivered" and traded for thousands of years, it is believed that proper food delivery didn't begin until 1889.

In 1889, King Umberto I and Queen Margherita, both from northern Italy, traveled south to Naples.

※ by + 交通工具
表「以 / 搭乘」某種交通工具時,可用 “by+交通工具“ 表示,

此時該交通工具前不可置任何冠詞(a、an、the)。

◆ Jimmy lives far away from the office, so he often goes to work by High Speed Rail.

     吉米住的地方離公司很遠,所以他常常搭高鐵上班。

◆ Nowadays, people usually travel abroad by plane.

     現今,人們通常都搭乘飛機出國旅遊。

※ 補充用法

1. 表「步行」時用

◆ Cathy has rented a room near campus, so she goes to class on foot.

     凱西在學校附近租了一間房,所以她都走路去上課。

2.若要表示動作或事件發生在某個交通工具上時,用 “on / in + 冠詞 / 所有格 + 交通工具“。

   跨騎的交通工具(如bikemotorcycle或大型交通工具(如bus、plane),介詞用 on ;

   至於小型交通工具(如car、taxi),介詞則用 in 。

◆ Bob fell asleep on the bus and missed his stop.
