In August and September, many children start school.
Some can't wait to start each year.
Children usually begin kindergarten at age 5 or 6.
Next they go to elementary school and then junior high or middle school. Finally they go to high school.
Schools usually start early in the morning and end in the afternoon. Some students also go to school on Saturdays.
In Brazil, there are too many students.
Schools have three sessions. Students can go from 7:00 to 12:00, 12:00 to 17:00 or 17:00 to 22:00.		 許多孩子都在八月和九月開學,
每年都有些人迫不待要上學。
兒童通常在五歲或六歲開始上幼兒園。
接著,他們會上小學,然後是初中,最後上高中。
學校的上課時間通常在一大早開始,在下午結束。
有些學生在星期六也會上學。
巴西的學生太多,所以學校的上課時間分為三個時段。
學生上學的時間可以是上午七點到中十二點、中十二點到下午五點,或者下午五點到晚十點。

Megan: Do you miss going to school, Matt?
Matt: Not at all. Why do you ask?
Megan: My son can't wait to start school.
But he can't go to kindergarten until next year.
Matt: I don't remember anything about kindergarten.
Megan: I don't, either.
           But we probably didn't have any homework!
Matt: That was the only time!
         I never liked homework. I had too much of it!

梅根:麥特,你想念上學的時光嗎?
麥特:一點也不。妳為什麼這麼問?
梅根:我兒子迫不及待想要開始上學,
      可是他要等到明年才能上幼兒園。
麥特:我已經完全不記得幼兒園的事情了。
梅根:我也不記得了,可是我們那時候大概都沒有功課!
麥特:就只有那個時候而已!
我從來都不喜歡功課,我的功課太多了!

 

 

Conversation B
Megan: I remember elementary school, junior high and high school.
Matt: Me, too.
         School started early and ended in the afternoon.
Megan: Most do.
           But schools in Brazil have three sessions every day.
Matt: Really? Why?
Megan: There are too many students.
            Students go to one of the three sessions.
Matt: So they might go to school durin the day or at night?
Megan: That's right.

梅根:記得小學、初中高中。
麥特:我也是。
學校的上課時間很早,然後下午就放學回家了。
梅根:大部分的學校都是這樣,
       可是巴西的學校每天都有三個上課時段。
麥特:真的嗎?為什麼?
梅根:因為他們的學生太多了,所以必須分散到這三個時段。
麥特所以他們上學的時間有可能是白天,也有可能是晚上?
梅根:沒錯。
