herd immunity 群體免疫

A: I'm so nervous right now because I'm scheduled to get vaccinated tomorrow.
    When will you get your shot?

B: Not sure. I'm still waiting for my turn.
    It's said that the more people who get vaccinated, the sooner we can reach herd immunity.

A: That's true. I wish the vaccines could arrive sooner.

B: Fingers crossed.
    I can't wait to travel abroad again.

flex 炫耀

A: I'm so fed up with people flexing all the time on Instagram.
    Here, check out Shawn's latest post.
    He's always posting pics of himself shirtless to flex about his good shape.
    He's even taken a mirror selfie with an iPhone 13.

B: Get used to it. That's what social media is all about.
    Maybe you're just upset because you have nothing to flex about.

A: Nonsense! I'm going to post something now and make you eat your words.
    (posting) Done! Check it out.

B: (looking at the post)
     So you can touch your belly button by reaching around from behind your back?
     Weird flex, but OK...

herd immunity 群體免疫

herd 指的是人或動物的群體。
immunity就是免疫(力)。
群體免疫是指人或動物群體中有很大比例的個體對傳染病獲得免疫力，使得其他沒有免疫力的個體因此受到保護而不被傳染。
為實現群體免疫，需要一定比例的人群接種疫苗或先前受到感染。

flex 炫耀

flex 原意為「使繃緊 / 彎曲 (肌肉) 」flex one's muscles 原意指「繃緊肌肉」，如今也有展示實力和力量之意，故 flex 可引申為「炫耀」。此外，網路迷因上常常將 flex 作為名詞使用，當有人在吹噓某個奇怪、難以理解或讓人覺得困惑的事物時,就可以用 Weird flex, but OK... 來句點對方。
